If you want to add a whole new meaning to hanging out, then harness up and climb, jump off or just lean out over these vertiginous skyscrapers.Start with the top experience, literally, since this is the highest exterior building ascent in the world at 365 metres. And where many such experiences are on flat walkways, this one involves a steep ascent on steps at a 45-degree angle up the sloping summit of the 30 Hudson Yards skyscraper.
At the top, you huddle on a small platform from which you get a view over all Manhattan. Lean out over the void if you dare. SeeThe highest skyscraper exterior walk until recently is still a corker at 340 metres. Most exterior walks feature metal mesh, but this one at Jinmao Tower ups the adrenaline levels with a completely see-through glass floor and no railings. The 88th-floor walkway is 60 metres long and you get terrific views over Shanghai’s skyscrapers. In the early morning, you might be enveloped in wisps of fog, as if you’re standing on clouds. SeeThis isn’t quite a bungee jump, since your descent is controlled by guide cables, but you get 11 seconds of free fall when you leap off Sky Tower, the tallest structure in New Zealand, to the plaza 192 metres below. Otherwise, you can walk around the entire exterior of the tower and lean out over it attached only to a harness. SeeDubai has lots of skyscrapers, but only Sky Views allows you on the outside for a ledge walk 219.5 metres above the ground. And yes, you can lean over the barrier-free edge of the walkway for the obligatory photo. More unnerving is the Sky Slide between levels 53 and 52. At 12 metres, the slide through a transparent tube is short, but your momentum and the drop below makes you feel as if you’re falling.
