After the recent deaths of cricketers ShaneWarne and Rod Marsh, there's a push to install an automated defibrillator in every cricket club across the country. Each year up to 30,000 Australians suffer a cardiac arrest about 1-in-10 survives. 7NEWS

Lehmann’s mentor, David Hookes, was also killed in 2004 when he was punched by a bouncer and suffered a cardiac arrest.

Now, with the help of the Federal Government’s Grassroots Cricket Fund, Lehmann is spruiking the Australian Cricketers’ Association’s initiative – in partnership with Cricket Australia – to have a defibrillator at every cricket club in the country. Lehmann’s strong message to all Australians – not just middle-aged men – was to put their health first.“Go to your GP if you’ve got any signs at all, get checked out through the heart specialist, and these machines are obviously last resort, but that helped someone like Greg Page; saved his life,” he said.
