Jess Murphy says she knows her mum is out there as she addresses media in a desperate bid to help the search for missing Ballarat woman Samantha Murphy.

Victorian police say they have not identified any suspicious circumstances in the search for missing Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy. Ballarat police officer Lisa Macdougall said investigators were keeping an open mind as their search continued for a fifth day.

"We are keeping an open mind and considering all possibilities. We are being extremely thorough and methodical with that investigation. The 51-year-old mother of three was last seen heading out for her regular morning jog about 7am on Sunday. Police have appealed for dashcam or CCTV footage from the Ballarat suburbs of Canadian, Ballarat East, and Mount Helen, east of Geelong Road."It is helping us to get through, to keep us strong and motivated to keep looking and keep moving forward," she said."I know she is out there," Jess said.Ms Murphy's husband, Mick Murphy, thanked everyone in the community who had been helping in the search and offering to support the family."The generosity throughout the community has been unbelievable," he said. "If we accepted all the food that has been offered to be cooked for us, we wouldn't have to go to the supermarket for 12 months."The search for Ms Murphy began on Sunday afternoon after her family first reported her missing on Sunday morning.Investigators are focusing the search on the Ballarat East, Canadian and Mount Helen areas east of Geelong Road, looking for any sign of Ms Murphy, including her iPhone, Apple Watch or earpods.SES incident agency commander Jordan Bush said its volunteers would conduct a roadside search at Yankee Flat Road today and focus on areas along transmission lines near McCarthy's Road in the Canadian forest area. "The search areas we have been given today are areas of interest she could have been running on at the time," he told ABC Statewide Mornings.Mr Bush said dams and mineshafts in the area were not a specific focus of the SES search. Acting Inspector Macdougall confirmed to ABC Statewide Mornings that disused mine shafts had been "discounted" and were not forming part of the search. She said the last confirmed sighting of Ms Murphy was when she left her residence at 7.03am on Sunday, but police were receiving "huge amounts of information" that were informing the search areas. When asked if she believed Ms Murphy was alive, Acting Inspector Macdougall said police were "keeping an open mind". "We are hopeful and we are continuing to search, which is why we are out there utilising all of our resources to throw everything at the search,Acting Inspector Macdougall said she would not comment on specific details of the investigation, including whether police have obtained further information from Ms Murphy's phone or watch, which she had on her at the time.Live moment closedThat's the end of our live coverage of the police update on the search for Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy.Police say they're keeping an open mind and are still hopeful of answers as they continue to search for, said "people don't just vanish into thin air" and urged the community to keep up the searchShe's asked the media to stop filming outside the family home, so she can feel saferJess closes the family's statement by asking the media to "please stop taking photos of us and coming to our house"."It's really hard, I just want to be able to walk around my house and feel safe and it's a bit hard at the moment," she says.Ms Murphy is a mother to three children and is well known in the community for her involvement in arts and theatre.Friends have described Ms Murphy as "someone who can be relied upon" and who is always caring for others. Police have described Ms Murphy's disappearance as out of character as she was familiar with the trails she intended to run and walked or ran in the area every day.Paula Heenan, director of the Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts and a friend of Ms Murphy, said the situation felt surreal. "We just can't fathom what might have happened or how it happened, how somebody can just disappear," she said. Locals interested in joining the search have been asked to check the latest information outside the Buninyong Police Station.the search area was based on data from Ms Murphy's phone "The area of search isn't completely remote. We are on the outskirts of Ballarat and it is not that far from urban areas as well," Acting Inspector Macdougall said on Monday.Mr Bush said SES volunteers had been using a line search technique over the past three days. This comes after the initial approach to search tracks and roads on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. "A line search is essentially we have a crew leader stand at the back of about seven to 10 people and they command the crew, they all stand about two metres apart," Mr Bush said. "They all walk forward, do periodic call-outs for Samantha and they will be walking through shrubbery and bushland as they go." SES crews would continue searching until police ordered otherwise, he said, adding that crews did repeat searches of specific areas as part of their techniques."Samantha is a wife, she's a mum, she's a next-door neighbour, she's a friend, she's part of our community through the arts area," he said. "Obviously there is great community interest, and great interest to hopefully see a positive outcome.
