David Jones and Country Road’s mens fashion retailer Politix must pay more than $750,000 in interest and contrition payments after admitting to underpaying more than 7000 employees.

FWO Sandra Parker opted not to take the companies to court as she said they had shown a firm commitment to rectifying all underpayments and changing their practices.“Under their EUs, David Jones and Politix have committed to implementing stringent measures to improve compliance and protect the rights of their employees,” Ms Parker said.

Politix, part of the Country Road Group, admitted to underpaying 850 employees $2.06 million in wages and $45,000 in superannuation between 2016 and 2020.
