The court heard how Mr Mackintosh, 44, chose not to contest the seat at the 2017 General Election, following BBC reporting about £39,000 in donations made to Northampton South Conservative Association in 2014. My Mayfield, of Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, paid £10,000 to NCSA not long afterwards, the court heard.
Mr Nelson asked him: "In your dealings as leader of the council or MP, did you give any favours to Mr Grossman?"Asked why he had answered "no comment" in his police interview, Mr Mackintosh said he had been following legal advice.
