Greens MP David Shoebridge has pleaded not guilty after being arrested and charged at a climate protest outside Kirribilli House last year, warning governments and police can "not arrest your way out of this climate crisis”.

Mr Shoebridge, who joined demonstrators in December to oppose Prime Minister Scott Morrison's decision to holiday in Hawaii as bushfires raged across Australia, was charged for failing to comply with a move on direction. “My plan is to prove it’s not yet illegal to peacefully protest in this country,” he said on Thursday.
