Alistair Findlay was serving a sentence in Glasgow's Barlinnie Prison for preying on youngsters at a residential home in the 70s and 80s.
The death of a serial sex offender in a Scots prison is to be investigated at a Fatal Accident Inquiry. Alistair Findlay, who was convicted of child abuse, died when he had served just two years of a life sentence in 2021.
The 61-year-old was jailed for trying to lure a ten-year-old girl into a paedophile ring and was described as an "odious individual" by police. He was convicted following an investigation into abuse at a former Glasgow children's home. In 2018 police launched a new investigation into abuse claims at the home, which closed in 2008. He was found guilty of seven charges after a trial.
