Russian missile attacks have left at least 25 civilians dead in the Ukraine's worst attack in almost two months.
Four children are reported to be among the casualties after residential buildings were struck by missiles in the town of Uman.Reuters reported at least 23 civilians were killed in the attack on a residential block - housing an estimated 109 people – which left 27 flats destroyed.
Surviving resident 58-year-old Serhii Lubivskiy spoke to reporters on the ground of the destruction after he was rescued with his wife from the balcony of his flat by firefighters."An elderly woman, her daughter and two grandchildren lived on the ninth floor. They are gone. A man with his son lived on the eighth floor. They are gone. A woman with her daughter lived on the seventh floor. They are gone.
Russia's defence ministry have said they don't deliberately target civilians however they stated their goal with the missile attacks was achieved as they aim to prevent Ukraine from bringing reserve forces to the front line. "Overnight, the Russian Air Force carried out a collective rocket strike using long-range high-precision weapons targeting temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian army reserve units," Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
