A person earlier believed to have been hit by an inbound Metra train in Park Ridge actually suffered a “near miss,” a Metra spokeswoman said late Monday morning.
The person likely had been standing at either a rail crossing or a platform crossing, as there was no indication of anyone walking down the tracks, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said. The pedestrian was able to walk away from the scene and received assistance from firefighters, Reile said. His or her condition was still not known late Monday morning, she said, and Metra wouldn’t say whether the pedestrian was a man or a woman.
