The Academy Award winning actor took to social media to weigh-in on the FBI’s raid on the former US President’s Florida Mar-a-Lago residence, slamming the “Democrat fools” who he claims are lying about Trump.

The former US President released a lengthy statement after the raid on Monday evening, declaring that his Palm Beach home was “under siege”.

The US Department of Justice confirmed it signed off on the raids of Mr Trump's home. The FBI has been criticised over the raids with claims they were politically motivated. Mr Trump countered that his attorneys were cooperating with the government and said the raid was over the top. ''My attorneys and representatives were cooperating fully, and very good relationships had been established. The government could have had whatever they wanted, if we had it,' Mr Trump's statement read. 'Then, out of nowhere and with no warning, Mar-a-Lago was raided at 6:30 in the morning, by VERY large numbers of agents, and even 'safecrackers.' They got way ahead of themselves. Crazy!''
