Michelle Obama says Kamala Harris is ready to be president and “is one of the most qualified people ever to seek the office of the presidency”. She spoke about Harris going to a public school and not being reliant on generational wealth to succeed, much like Obama’s own upbringing. “We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth. If we bankrupt the business … we don’t get a second, third or fourth chance.
” Obama told the crowd that although they were feeling good in the campaign, they were facing “an uphill battle”. She suggested they must not take their current momentum for granted, seemingly referring to Trump’s 2016 presidential win. “Kamala and Tim, they have lived amazing lives and I am confident that they will lead with compassion, inclusion and grace but they are still only human. They are not perfect, and like all of us, they will make mistakes.
