Democrats have spent the entirety of the time since Donald Trump entered the political scene shrieking about catastrophic “threats to democracy,” and last weekend’s shooting of the former president shows the logical endpoint of such rhetoric.
Democrat silence on Biden's mental fitness has only two possible explanations, and voters won't like either of them
Following the disastrous performance by the president, major Democrat donors are devising schemes to pressure the president to step aside and media power players like The New York Times’ Editorial Board have called for him to be replaced. At this point, it is simply too late for voters to decide who the Democratic Party nominee will be should Biden leave the race.
This points to two possibilities: that those around Biden ignored the obvious or that elites knew a meltdown was likely and afforded them a chance to choose the next nominee without voters. This includes members of the DNC and a disproportionate number of members of Congress, party leaders, and governors.
The president will likely attempt to appear magnanimous and announce his resignation around the time of the convention, only to be lauded by the media as a latter-day George Washington. According to DNC rules, should a presidential nominee “resign, die, or become disabled” after the convention, the DNC would"confer with the Democratic leadership of the United States Congress and the Democratic Governors Association.
