Be on the lookout for snowflakes this Sunday ❄
Denver’s first measurable snow on-average
, but with all this recent dry, warm weather, some Denverites are probably wondering, “where’s the snow?”, but meteorologist Jim Kalina with National Weather Service in Boulder said there is a slight possibility for the first snow to come as early as this weekend.“There actually looks like there’s a little system coming through this weekend, probably on Sunday,” Kalina said. “There’s an upper trough coming across that’s going to bring cooler temperatures Sunday and Monday.
Some traces of snow fell last year as early as Oct. 12 but wasn’t enough to be measurable. Kalina said that what falls on Sunday and Monday could only be trace amounts. “It could be something like that where you see a trace, but all you need is a tenth of an inch to actually be the first snowfall,” Kalina said. “It doesn’t take a lot of snow, so there’s a chance of that.”
