Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce says it would be naïve to suggest the government is not across developments in the Pacific, amid revelations a Chinese naval base could be built on Australia’s doorstep.
Australian Strategic Policy Institute Executive Director Peter Jennings said Australia must intervene in the agreement, telling Sky News Australia last week it was"unacceptable".
“We are putting a lot of effort into the pacific, we are daily putting effort into the pacific,” he told reporters on Monday.
