Sky News host Sharri Markson says “Barnaby Joyce's claim to have a voting block capable of holding the balance of power has been undermined by one of his inner circle”. Ms Markson said Nationals MP George Christensen “rejected Joyce's claim that he is one of at least three National MPs who would cross the floor over leadership tensions”.
However, once the front-page feature ran, “it would seem that Joyce hadn't actually checked with some of his inner circle whether they would, in fact, cross the floor with him”. Ms Markson confirmed Mr Christensen called Prime Minister Scott Morrison to say he was “not part of the renegade group who would cross the floor”.
