Health officials on both sides of the Irish border have issued an urgent appeal after a case of measles was confirmed
The Public Health Agency is urging children and young adults who have not received both doses of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine to do so.
A case of measles was diagnosed in Northern Ireland last month, the first in seven years. Cases have been rising across Great Britain and Ireland. An adult who had contracted measles in the Republic of Ireland died earlier this month. The PHA said anyone from Northern Ireland who was on the flight and is at higher risk of severe illness from the disease to contact them on 9536 8300.
Children in Year 11 and 12 will continue to be invited to attend for their School Leaver’s vaccinations within their school setting as per scheduled school vaccination programme. The MMR will be offered to all eligible children if required.Booking is preferable but walk in appointments will be available between 11am and 12 noon on each date and at each venue.Those aged 17 years and over are invited to make an appointment at the RVH Covid-19 Vaccination Centre using the link vaccinations.
