Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson says "we are all very worried" about Cheng Lei following the detention of the Australian journalist in China.
Ms Cheng, who worked as an anchor at Chinese state-owned broadcast channel CGTN, was placed under residential detention after eight years of service at the English language news channel. In a statement, Foreign Minister Marise Payne said “formal notification was received on 14 August 2020 from Chinese authorities of her detention”. Ms Henderson told Sky News host Chris Kenny "we're working very closely with her family in relation to that detention".
