Close friends, relatives and his mother gathered at his funeral, sharing stories of the 12-year-old boy who loved dinosaurs, video games and Haiwaian pizza.

Processions began as close family and friends carried Zane’s casket into the Mersey Gardens Chapel to the tune of Give Heaven Some Hell by Hardy.

The sixth-grader was described as a keen gamer and dinosaur lover who was meticulous about the names of dinosaurs and loved McDonald’s Quarter Pounders and Hawaiian pizza. “My baby, where do I start. I was so young when I had you, only 15. You grew up with me. You held my hand and kissed my face,” she said.

“I love you Zane,” continued Ms Gardam, appearing to cry. “No matter what the weather, we’re together. I love you Zaney.”“I loved your persoanlity. Everyday you would put a smile on my face. My favourite memory was that you would run around with undies on your head,” said on of his teachers, in a tribute which was read by the celebrant.Another teacher, Ms Thompson, shared insights into what Zane was like in class.

While they remain unidentified, Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein confirmed the good news this morning.
