Gosford's skyline is filled with cranes and rising buildings. But is the city ready for forecast exponential growth as the construction industry struggles to keep up with demand?
Construction in Sydney's 'satellite' city, Gosford, is ramping up, but many in the sector are struggling to keep up.
While Gosford's skyline is filled with cranes and creeping high rises, many construction sites have ground to a halt amid a flurry of stop-work orders and companies going into voluntary administration.Central-Coast-based urban planner Matthew Wales said he had dealt with so many iterations of the Gosford CBD over the past 30 years it made his "head dizzy".
"Some of these costs that are blowing out at the moment are completely outside of the developer's control, and you can see that, with these voluntary administrations, these half-finished projects or on-selling of a site halfway through its commencement.""The biggest gripe we have at the moment … is the time that things are taking at council," he said.
