Veteran guard Devonte' Graham has put up points since arriving from New Orleans, but his future with the rebuilding Spurs is cloudy
Devonte Graham has thrived since arriving in San Antonio, averaging 15.5 points in 13 games with the Spurs.NEW ORLEANS – Spurs guard Devonte’ Graham woke up in darkness Monday night ready to fight.
In an instant, the 28-year-old Graham went from being a little-used bench piece for a New Orleans team bent on making a run to the Western Conference playoffs to a veteran voice for a young Spurs team hoping to survive another lottery-bound season without losing its mind. Graham was averaging 15.3 minutes in his 53 appearances with the Pelicans, his fewest since his rookie season in Charlotte. He was also getting up only about four field goal attempts per game.
“He’s a professional,” Popovich said. “He knows his way around the court. He’s been a real joy to have.”Like Richardson when he arrived from Boston at the 2021 trade deadline, Graham comes with more seasons on his contract beyond this one.Graham has two years and $24.7 million remaining on his deal. Only $2.85 of the $12.65 million Graham is due in 2024-25 is guaranteed.
