Netball: Jamie-Lee Price opens up on her decision to shun New Zealand, and try her hand at suiting up for the Diamonds.
Australia and England’s rivalry on the netball court resumes this week with the Diamonds to take on the Roses in a three-match series starting in Adelaide on Thursday night, before heading to Sydney and Bendigo. It is the first time the two sides will face one another since the Diamonds handed the Roses a 20-goal belting in the final of the Nations Cup in Leeds in January.
The series will then head to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena for the second match at 4pm AEST on Sunday 22 September, before the final game is played at Bendigo Stadium in regional Victoria at 7pm AEST on Wednesday 25 September. How is the Diamonds squad shaping up? Opportunities have arisen as a result for defenders Rudi Ellis and Ash Ervin who could debut after impressive Super Netball campaigns for the Vixens and Lightning respectively.
Watson started at wing attack in the Nations Cup final and she is likely to resume that role but competition for spots in Australia’s strongest third will be fierce. Adelaide Thunderbirds shooter Georgie Horjus is the other potential debut in the squad, and she is joined by Cara Koenan, Kiera Austin, Sophie Garbin and Sophie Dwyer as attacking options in the goal circle.
