Cricket: Mitch Marsh has been appointed as Australia's men's Twenty20 captain, with the all-rounder set to lead a squad to the World Cup that does not include Steve Smith or Jake Fraser-McGurk.
McGurk & Smith left out of T20 WC squad | 02:24Jake Fraser-McGurk had no issues with being overlooked for Australia ’s T20 World Cup squad, confessing he still feels he’s yet to earn a place in the national side .
It comes after the right-hander smacked a record-breaking 29-ball century in the Marsh Cup for South Australia last year and top-scored for the Melbourne Renegades during the recent Big Bash League campaign. “I can’t really see myself batting five or six because we’re pretty set there with Timmy David, Cam Green, those sort of blokes. So that’s the way I think about it. That’s fine. There’s hopefully going to be more time for that.”
“But didn’t really bother me a hell of a lot because I wasn’t in this position to feel like I’ve earned that yet.During the extensive interview, Fraser-McGurk also revealed a key piece of advice he received from Delhi coach Ricky Ponting, who has been singing the Victorian’s praises over the past couple of months.
“He’ll definitely get his time. He’s only young. He’ll be in the team sooner rather than later, I think.
