NRL: Mal Meninga has revealed a conversation he had with Kalyn Ponga that saw the star fullback backflip on Kangaroos withdrawal.
Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga has confirmed star fullback Kalyn Ponga “has made himself available” to represent his country in the upcoming Pacific Championships following a “really good conversation” between the pair.
“When I’m done, I want to look back at my career with a positive reflection, including people saying he was a great signing and represented our community to the best of his ability. The NRL sprung into action too, giving the Knights and Ponga to backflip on the decision or risk a sanction.“The Newcastle Knights and club captain Kalyn Ponga understands his responsibilities under his NRL playing contract, NRL rules and the Collective Bargaining Agreement,” the statement read.
“There’s certain obligations from a licensing point of view from a club and then obviously the players sign their agreements.
