Rangers are tracking down a dingo in Western Australia's north-west Pilbara region after reports of several attacks on pet dogs, including the killing of a toy poodle.
A pet owner wants more warning signs erected at a remote Western Australian campsite after a dingo attack ed his toy poodle in July.Rangers are proactively monitoring the region in search of the aggressive dingo and Main Roads says it is considering putting up signage.
The pair had set up camp at the base of Mount Robinson, about 1,200 kilometres north of Perth, with their two dogs Gina and Harley, who they had always travelled with."I put both out to do a wee before we went to bed and there was no action," he said."She was only out there ten seconds and then we heard the big squeal.""It dropped the dog and the dog was running back towards the vehicle and the dingo got to it first," Mr Dixon said.
But Mr Dixon said the couple were concerned for other families travelling through the region during peak season."I'm sure it should have happened a long time ago.""We are working with the Shire of East Pilbara to help inform road users and the general public," the spokesperson said.
