Senate Democrats introduced a new amendment Tuesday in an attempt to counter Republican arguments that they are blocking much-needed aid to the Midwest.Sign Up The amendment also includes a proposal from Senate Appropriations Ranking Member Patrick Leahy that would require the Department of Housing and Urban Development release grant funds already allocated to the island. In addition, it would provide $2.5 billion in new relief money to the Midwest.
“Everything was moving along and guess who came in and messed it up as usual? The president,” Schumer said.
