Politicians from both sides have condemned Lidia Thorpe for disrupting Sydney's Mardi Gras parade with a dramatic protest, labelling it 'sad' and a 'disgrace'.

Proud to have joined the #PrideInProtest float in Sydney to say #NoPrideInGenocide, #NoPrideInPrisons, and #NoCopsInPride.”Meanwhile, Environment Minister Ms Plibersek said it was “sad” the demonstration took away from the positive night of celebrating Australia’s inclusive society.“Overall it was a fantastic night of celebration. We recognise how far we’ve come in Australia as a society that is inclusive of all.
Ms Plibersek walked alongside New South Wales Opposition Leader Chris Minns and Anthony Albanese, who became theMr Albanese, who was also joined by partner Jodie, said it was “unfortunate” that it took this long for a sitting prime minister to take part in the celebration of “modern Australia”. "It's unfortunate that I am the first but this is a celebration of modern Australia, we're a diverse and inclusive Australia and that's a good thing," he told the ABC.
"People want to see that their government is inclusive and represents everyone, no matter who they love, no matter what their identity, no matter where they live.
