Disney has sued Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and his tourism board on Wednesday alleging a 'targeted campaign of government retaliation' against Walt Disney World for voicing a political viewpoint.

Disney has sued Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and his tourism board on Wednesday alleging a"targeted campaign of government retaliation" against Walt Disney World for voicing a political viewpoint.

Disney's lawsuit alleges the Florida governor acted in retaliation to their criticism by passing a bill that gave the state control of the board at Walt Disney World, culminating in a restriction of their autonomy. In launching a lawsuit, Disney is confident it can"take a stand against the State’s retaliation" and ultimately protect all involved with the company, including over 75,000 employees in Florida.

DeSantis had previously defended the revocation of Florida's special tax status, stating it was down to his opposition to special districts in the law.

‘Unpleasant tasks’: Governor-General reflects on Somalia deployment‘Unpleasant tasks’: Governor-General reflects on Somalia deploymentThree decades after Australia took part in Operation Solace – a peacekeeping mission in Somalia – Governor-General David Hurley has reflected on the challenges he faced commanding the 1st Battalion. Mr Hurley faced “unpleasant tasks” as his Battalion was instructed to create a secure environment for NGOs to help them deliver food into contested regions. “We did test our doctrine and we found that although we had trained a lot in Australia and we were deployed long distances in Australia, we hadn’t really set ourselves up properly logistically to support an operation that distance away from Australia,” he told Sky News Australia. The Governor-General said the soldiers learned “a lot of lessons” in the ten-year period leading up to the East Timor deployment in 1999. “Many of the people who served in my battalion then, or in the other organisations that were in Somalia, were in senior positions by the time we went into Timor.”

Reserve Bank review ‘seeking to break’ embedded culture in RBAReserve Bank review ‘seeking to break’ embedded culture in RBASky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says the RBA review is “seeking to break” the embedded culture of not challenging or analysing the Governor of the Reserve Bank board's views. “In many cases, it’s probably fair to say that the people who are generally appointed the Reserve Bank board … they’re business people, and so they bring that perspective to the Reserve Bank board,” Mr Greenwood told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “They’re very busy people themselves, and so they don’t often have the time to do the analysis, to actually do the challenging of the Reserve Bank. “There’s been one view, and that’s been the Reserve Bank board Governor and his cohorts inside the Reserve Bank, and that’s been it - you don’t challenge it. “This, in many ways, sort of has embedded a culture inside the Reserve Bank that I suspect that the RBA review is seeking to break.”
