Thankfully a passer-by knew CPR
A DJ, whose life was saved by passerby who knew CPR, went back behind the decks to help raise £1,500 for a fourth community access defibrillator.
Tom had a cardiac arrest in Blackpool four years ago and his life was saved by passerby who knew CPR and administered it while an ambulance attended. Michael said: “Tom was very fortunate that a passerby knew CPR and he was able to keep his heart pumping until paramedics arrived with a defibrillator.“It turns out that Tom has a rare condition – RYR2 gene mutation – which was passed on by me and goes undetected. That caused the cardiac arrest.
Northern Whisper served a special beer on the night – Take the Biscuit – a cookie dough beer, which is like a milkshake. For every beer sold there was a contribution for the defibrillator fund.
