Do the Bills need to trade for DeAndre Hopkins? BillsMafia

. The results were fairly disappointing, with Davis hauling in just 51.6% of his targets . Davis had as many drops as touchdowns , per Pro Football Focus.

The Bills will respond by acquiring a starting-caliber receiver to rival Davis this offseason. Does it have to be Hopkins? I’m not convinced. Beane is a risk-averse decision-maker and Hopkins comes attached with several red flags. Hopkins turns 31 in June and receivers rarely age gracefully. Hopkins has two years and approximately $34.36 million remaining on his current contract, via Spotrac. Hopkins could be looking for an extension this offseason. The Bills have roughly $12.4 million in cap space and may have to adjust Hopkins’ contract to avoid absorbing his scheduled $30.7 million cap charge.

There are other complications involved. Hopkins was suspended for the first six contests of the 2022 campaign for violating the league’s performance-enhancing policy. He also missed a pair of games due to a mild knee strain. In 2021, hamstring, knee, and rib injuries limited Hopkins to 10 regular-season appearances. It means Hopkins has appeared in just 19 of a possible 34 contests.
