Hospitals across Tasmania have banned visitors, but one Hobart doctor is helping patients stay in touch with their loved ones during coronavirus pandemic by asking people to donate their iPads.
Dr Robinson said he was concerned the ban would leave many patients feeling isolated from their families.
"It won't make it entirely the same as having your loved one there to hold your hand, but at least being able to speak to them face-to-face is an improvement." "I think it'll start here and remain functional long-term. I'd be surprised if it didn't continue in one form or another," he said.Acting CEO of the Tasmanian Council of Social Service, Simone Zell, said it was important to keep people connected during the pandemic.
"Particularly in Tasmania, where we know we do have a lot of people who don't have access to their own smartphones, or devices like laptops, it means that they're more isolated than they were before," he said.
