Dr. Paul Offit has made a career out of debunking bad ideas in the medical field; the Chinese government's lockdown fit that bill
was in 2014, when there was mass hysteria over an outbreak of the Ebola virus in Africa.
The first chapter, for example, is about the history of opioids. It begins with the discovery by early man of the opium poppy, which alleviated pain at a time when there were few pain-relievers. But opium also created pleasure and thus led to addiction. “The zero-COVID approach is not going to work unless you are going to have everybody stay home all the time,” Offit said. “The goal should be to prevent death and hospitalization. The vaccine has pretty much done that.”
