In a statistic that will surprise very few MCU fans, DoctorStrangeInTheMultiverseOfMadness was by far the most-watched SuperBowlLVI trailer this year, with a massive 93.12 million views.😱
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was the most-watched trailer to drop during Super Bowl LVI. Following Phase 4's record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Stephen Strange is set to further explore the MCU's multiverse in the new film.
By seeing its eponymous sorcerer cast yet another forbidden and even more dangerous spell, Multiverse of Madness looks to capitalize on the MCU’s ever-evolving multiverse theory explored in Avengers: Endgame, Loki, What If…?, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Similar to No Way Home’s inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men alongside Tom Holland, Multiverse of Madness’ initial teaser previously confirmed Cumberbatch would play at least two Strange variants.
Accompanied by Danny Elfman's thrilling score, haunting visuals, and jam-packed with Easter eggs, Multiverse of Madness’ trailer offers a lot for fans to take in. Its biggest reveal is that Patrick Stewart is seemingly reprising his role as X-Men's Professor X. Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox 2019, many have wondered when and how the MCU would implement Deadpool, the X-Men, and Fantastic Four.
Multiverse of Madness is rumored to include a wide variety of MCU cameos, none of which have so-far been confirmed. Fans have speculated that everyone from Maguire’s web-slinger and Ioan Gruffudd’s Reed Richards, to a Tom Cruise Iron Man will be appearing in Doctor Strange 2. Thanks to some Ultron sentries and the voice of one Stewart, the trailer hints at the possible presence of a Illuminati—a secret society of heroes from the comics who serve as a sort of United Nations.
