Freddie Freeman, Will Smith and Cody Bellinger hit home runs as the Dodgers beat the Rockies, 8-4, to avoid a sweep of their three-game series in Denver.

DENVER — The Dodgers checked in to Coors Field on Monday. They finally took advantage of its amenities on Wednesday.

“I try and look at the big picture,” Freeman said. “I look at the 6-3 road trip more than the 1-2 series, for me. So obviously, we know we haven’t scored that many runs here, but it’s nice to get out of here with the series salvaged.” Marquez lasted into the fourth inning, giving up another run on an RBI single by Eddy Alvarez before exiting with a blister on his pitching hand.

As the Dodgers’ offense has swooned through June, it has been left to the trio at the top – Turner, Freeman and Smith – to do most of the heavy lifting.
