Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the timetable for Syndergaard’s return is unknown despite the 15-day designation. , raising his ERA to 7.16. The former All-Star has surrendered at least five runs in three straight starts and six earned runs or more in four starts this season overall, tied with Cincinnati’s Graham Ashcraft and the Oakland Athletics’ Kyle Muller for the most in the majors.
Syndergaard, 30, has been trying to return to the player he was before Tommy John surgery. While with the New York Mets, he missed all of 2020 and pitched just two innings in 2021 after undergoing the ligament replacement procedure and has a 4.71 ERA over the past two-plus seasons. The right-hander went 10-10 with a 3.94 ERA last season with the Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies.
