Some people believe Qatar should never have been allowed to host in the first place, while others say their reaction is hypocritical.

■ Some pubs say they will not show the World Cup in protest over human rights in Qatar. Who cares? People will go somewhere else. Do we assume these pubs do not use any goods made in China? Or use energy imported from countries such as Saudi Arabia?■ Often, in the moments of sheer joy and jubilation, we see abundant physical displays of hugging, embracing or even kissing when goals are scored in any matches, especially football. And between male players, this is nothing new and not uncommon.
It will be very interesting to see how this is treated and handled during the Qatar World Cup. Are all such actions going to be cropped out and muted?■ The farce of Qatar 2022 is upon us. I think it is scandalous that this tournament is going ahead. It is obvious Qatar was only awarded the tournament for money. Shame on Fifa for allowing a country with such terrible human rights breaches to host it.
I feel it will end in shambles. One can only hope Qatar does not pick up a single point and get knocked out at the group stages.). It’s all very well but I have to ask – is it right that are encouraging young footballers, or any footballers for that matter, to be playing without shin pads? By doing so, they risk not only injury but serious infection from the surfaces they play on.
