A woman has been charged after allegedly throwing a dog off a cliff south of Sydney, following a lengthy investigation by police.
The 32-year-old was arrested at a Horsley home in Wollongong on Friday morning and bailed after investigators charged her with animal cruelty offences after the animal was euthanised.
The move followed a more than year-long investigation after a bushwalker heard a dog yelping near Clive Bissell Dr at Mount Ousley in January last year. Searching around, he discovered a kennel tipped upside down at the base of an escarpment with an injured Australian Bulldog inside about 8.30am. The find prompted a rescue operation involving police and SES volunteers, but the dog was later euthanised due to his poor condition and injuries.Investigators began a forensic examination of the kennel and arrested the woman following a “extensive investigation”, a NSW Police spokesman said. After a years-long battle, Justice Michael Lee is set to make a key call on what happened between Bruce Lehrmann and Brittany Higgins.
