The fundraiser was held by Best Friends Animal Society on Saturday at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.GALLERY: Utah Best Friends Animal Society welcomes 20 dogs, 7 cats neglected in New Mexico Those who attended Saturday's event registered for $35 and could choose to donate to Best Friends Animal Society or another local participating animal welfare organization. Their goal was to raise $100,000 in total from the event.
“I was part of the first Strut Your Mutt in Salt Lake City in 1996. At that point, I didn’t dream that it would evolve into a national event that has helped raise funds for hundreds of shelter and rescue groups,” said Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society. “Twenty-eight years later, we are returning to our roots and will hold one live event in Best Friends’ home state of Utah. I look forward to celebrating how far we’ve come and working together to take us to no-kill by 2025.
