The Miami Dolphins continue to limp toward the end of the season.
That touchdown gave the Patriots a 16-14 lead, their first since the first quarter when Tyquan Thornton caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Mac Jones to kick off the game.
Bridgewater finished 12-of-19 for 161 yards with a touchdown and an interception before he went out. Thompson went 12-of-21 for 104 yards with an interception of his own, too. He did mount one last scoring drive in the final minutes of the game, however, when he found Mike Gesicki for a four-yard touchdown to cut the game to just a single possession. That, however, came with just 64 seconds left on the clock.
With the win, New England now jumps the Dolphins in the standings for the final playoff spot in the AFC. Though both are 8-8, the Patriots hold the tiebreaker. While the Dolphins aren’t out of it yet, they’ll need help next week if they are going to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season.
