The impeachment fight in Washington has descended into personal bickering, with the House Speaker declaring the President a 'coward' and Trump accusing her of having a 'nervous fit'.
Pelosi was leaving her weekly news conference when the reporter from the conservative Sinclair Broadcast Group asked: "Do you hate the President?"
Pelosi instantly turned around and pointed her finger at the reporter before returning to the lectern."As a Catholic, I resent you using 'hate' in a sentence that addresses me.She said Democrats were moving to impeach Trump because they believe he breached the US constitution in his dealings with Ukraine, not because they disagreed with him on policy.
"I think the President is a coward when it comes to helping our kids who are afraid of gun violence. I think he is cruel when it comes to helping our Dreamers," she said, a reference to undocumented immigrants who came to the US as children."This is about the constitution of the United States and the facts that lead to the President's violation of his oath of office."
Trump quickly responded on Twitter: "Nancy Pelosi just had a nervous fit. She hates that we will soon have 182 great new judges and sooo much more. Stock Market and employment records. She says she 'prays for the President.' I don’t believe her, not even close."
