Prolific mining billionaire Chris Ellison has declared he does not want his employees ducking out of the office to grab coffee in an unusual side note to his company Mineral Resources’ 2024 financial year results presentation.

“Head office is a place that a lot of our people want to be and they love working in there,” he said during the results presentation.Mr Ellison said he doesn't want his employees going on coffee runs. Picture: YouTube/Mineral Resources But the crackdown wasn't just on the coffee run with Mr Ellison stressing his company tried to limit his employees leaving the office entirely for food, drink, exercise or general daily needs during work hours.

Alongside cracking down on employees popping out for a caffeine boost or midday Banh Mi, Mr Ellison has completely axed working from home rights for staff. “We can't have people working three days a week and picking up five days a week pay or four days – we’ve now got the industry all heading out there going ‘why don't we do a four-day week, we got used to it over COVID’,” he said.
