Outgoing President Joe Biden and president-elect Donald Trump have met for the first time since the US election.
The president and the president-elect exchanged cordial remarks in front of the cameras on Wednesday morning, local time, committing to a smooth handover after Trump's decisive election win. Trump did not extend an similar invitation to Biden after the 2020 election, when Trump refused to concede defeat and instead baselessly claimed the election was stolen.
They included Dan Scavino, an adviser to Trump's election campaign who worked in his previous administration. He will become an assistant to the president and a White House deputy chief of staff, Trump said.In an ominous post to his 2 million followers on X, Dan Scavino uploads a GIF of sand trickling through an hourglass next to Kevin Rudd's official statement on Donald Trump's election victory.
