2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to receive communications involving top officials within the Justice Department regarding the federal indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Ramaswamy, a Republican, said on Monday he requested the direct and indirect communications between President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland to special counsel Jack Smith to"get to the bottom" of what was discussed as Smith investigated the former president's alleged mishandling of classified documents."This is an affront to every American — to me, this isn't even about Donald Trump.

Trump is set to appear in court on Tuesday at 3 p.m. EDT at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Ramaswamy said he will hold a press conference outside the courthouse at 10:30 a.m. ahead of Trump's arrival.
