The White House says a proposal to rename US military bases named for Confederate leaders is a 'non-starter' for President Donald Trump, while NASCAR has banned the Confederate flag from its races and venues.

US President Donald Trump has rejected proposals to rename US military bases named for Confederate leaders from the 1860s Civil War, dismissing appeals made in the wake of the death of African American George Floyd.

It has been suggested that we should rename as many as 10 of our Legendary Military Bases, such as Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Benning in Georgia, etc. These Monumental and very Powerful Bases have become part of a Great American Heritage, and a......history of Winning, Victory, and Freedom. The United States of America trained and deployed our HEROES on these Hallowed Grounds, and won two World Wars.

In an article published on Tuesday in The Atlantic, retired general and former CIA chief David Petraeus called for renaming the bases, pointing out that the men they are named for"committed treason, however much they may have agonised over it" by fighting for the Confederacy.
