Mr Giuliani's spokesperson Ted Goodman has tweeted to say Mr Giuliani is in hospital but has not given any details about why. Former New York mayor and US President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani is in hospital in a critical condition, according to Mr Trump.
"Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition," Mr Trump said in a post on Truth Social. Rudy Giuliani became one of the key figures central to Donald Trump's political rise to the US presidency.
"Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he's fighting with that same level of strength as we speak," Mr Goodman said in the tweet.
Trump to award Giuliani highest civilian order The decision awards the United States' Presidential Medal of Freedom to a man once lauded for leading New York after the 2001 September 11 attacks. Last year, Mr Trump pardoned Mr Giuliani for his involvement in an effort to overturn the 2020 US election result. He was later included among those hit with state charges for allegedly organising fake electors to cast votes in favour of Mr Trump.
Mr Trump also awarded Mr Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom last year in recognition of his efforts after the September 11 attacks in 2001. He suffered a fractured thoracic vertebra along with multiple lacerations, contusions and injuries to his left arm and leg, according to his security chief, Michael Ragusa. State police said he had been a passenger in a rented Ford Bronco driven by Mr Goodman when the vehicle was struck from behind by a Honda HR-V.
