Donald Trump's legal team have filed paperwork requesting the hush money charges against the president-elect be dismissed, citing President Joe Biden's recent pardon of his son, Hunter.
Donald Trump has been found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels. Donald Trump 's lawyers have pointed to President Joe Biden 's pardon of his son, Hunter, in a request to have the president-elect's hush money case dismissed.
They argued that continuing the case would present unconstitutional "disruptions to the institution of the presidency". Justice Merchan halted case proceedings and indefinitely postponed sentencing, which had previously been scheduled for late November, after Trump was re-elected last month, giving the defence and prosecution a chance to weigh in on the future of the case.
