In a tweet just after 10pm local time on Monday , Trump said: "In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!"Immigration to the US has already largely shut down thanks to the coronavirus.
Trump's announcement came as the US Senate passed a new $484 billion coronavirus relief package to replenish a depleted loan program for struggling small businesses and provide funds for hospitals and coronavirus testing. Executives at Shake Shack, which has almost 200 restaurants across the country, announced it was returning a US$10 million loan because other restaurants deserved the money.
