Donald Trump is 'gearing up for a battle' ahead of his arraignment in New York on Tuesday, and is expected to address supporters waiting at his Mar-a-Lago estate after becoming the first US president to be charged with a criminal offence.
The former president is facing charges related to hush money payments given to porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election campaign. He is alleged to have paid her $130,000 in exchange for her silence about a 2006 affair.Donald Trump has left Florida for New York to face an arraignment hearing. Picture: AP Photo/Evan Vucci
He has continued to deny any wrongdoing, calling the charges “political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history”. "All the Tuesday stuff is still very much up in the air, other than the fact that we will very loudly and proudly say, 'Not guilty'," Mr Tacopina said.Supporters of the former president have begun to gather outside his Mar-a-Lago estate. A grand jury heard evidence over the course of three months relating to the hush money payments to Daniels before deciding to indict Mr Trump.
