Donald Trump warns Kevin Rudd that his tenure as ambassador is at risk should he win the presidency in November. Follow updates here.
Donald Trump has delivered a stern ultimatum to Kevin Rudd, warning the former Australian prime minister that his tenure as ambassador to the United States hangs in the balance should he win the presidency in November. Rudd replaced Joe Hockey as the Australian envoy to the US in March 2023 after he had been vocal critic of Trump, branding him “the most destructive president in history”.
If he is at all hostile, he will not be there long,” he said. Rudd has criticised Trump on numerous occasions, saying in early 2022 that he was a “traitor to the West” and was guilty of “rancid treachery”.
