USD loses sixth in last seven, will meet Pepperdine in tourney
It’s the goal of every college team to be playing its best basketball in February. Build momentum, make a good showing in the conference tournament, qualify for the NCAA Tournament or NIT.
“We have a very strong feeling this is going to turn for this group,” said head coach Sam Scholl. “It feels like it’s right there. We just have to fight for that break, have to fight for those two- to three-minute stretches to put us over the hump.“If we get that break, I believe in this group, believe what this team can accomplish.”
The difference Saturday afternoon came 22 feet, 13/4 inches from the basket, at the 3-point line. The Dons hit 9 of 24 3-pointers . USD sank just 3 of 15 treys . USF came in ranked 11th in the nation in 3-pointers.
