Dothan head football coach Jed Kennedy will be suspended from all activities for one week but will not lose his job following a sideline incident during last week's game against Opelika.

Dothan head football coach Jed Kennedy will be suspended from all activities for one week but will not lose his job following a shoving incident on the sideline of the Wolves’ win over Opelika on Friday night.

Justin Jones will be the interim coach during the Wolves’ final regular-season game at Jeff Davis on Thursday. Dothan is vying for one of four playoff spots in Class 7A, Region 2. The Wolves are currently tied with Enterprise and Prattville -- all with 4-3 region records -- for the final two playoff spots behind frontrunners Central-Phenix City and Auburn.

“To Early, I’m sorry. To Early and the Walker family, I’m sorry about what this has caused on your family,” he said. “Today, I extend my sincere apologies to this community and those who have entrusted me to lead. Please understand that I have poured myself into these young men and I love them dearly. Like many I am a work in progress. I will continue to become a better person and football coach moving forward. I love this school, this community, the coaches and mostly the players.

Kennedy is in his first season as Dothan’s head football coach. He spent the last three years at Enterprise as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
